The Method |
Yoga teaching will help you to focus on correct alignment of the body in poses ensuring you’re working safely, with maximum benefit to your flexibiliy, strength and wellbeing.
Classes generally start with simples poses and gradually move towards more advanced poses, ending with a period of relaxation and sometines incorporating breathing techniques. Props, such as blocks, belts, bolster and chair are used in class to allow those with less strength or flexibility to work correctly and achieve their full potential. |
The Pay-off |
Increase flexiblity: you can’t touch your toes today, but maybe tomorrow thanks to props and stretches hold for long time.
Toned muscles: holding each pose will help you to strengthen your body. Calmer mind: once you enter an asana (a pose), you focus on the alignment: all other thoughts are ignored. Pain relief: focusing on alignment relieves back and neck pain. Improved posture: minor adjustements improve your alignment and strengthen your small and “often ignored” muscles. you’ll find your sitting and standing postures improved. Protection from disease: iyengar helps the overall functioning of your body, and toxins elimination. Better food and lifestyle habits: when you calm your mind and improve your physical condition, your body will ask for healthy food and lifestyle. Improved breathing: you learn how to breathe during the poses. |
